Our Faith

Declaration of Faith

A.  The Scripture

We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures were written by men divinely inspired of God, that they have God for their author, salvation as their objective, and truth without mixture of error for their matter; that they reveal the principles by which God will judge us, and they therefore shall remain to the end, the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human creeds, conduct and opinions shall be tried (2 Tim. 3:15-17; John 12:47, 48; 2 Pet. 1:19-21).

B.  The True God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption (Psalm 83:18; Matt. 28:19; John 14:26).

C.  The Lord Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is and ever shall be -- God the Son, manifest in time in the flesh, for the purpose of redemption; that He did in Himself by one "Sacrifice for sin" put away sin; that He arose from the dead on the thrid day and is now seated at the right hand of the Father as the Advocate and Mediator for man.  We believe, further, that He was begotten by the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit born, of the virgin Mary in the sense that no man before or since was born or could be born and that in Himself all the attributes of God are fully manifested (Luke 1:30-35; John 1:1; Gal. 4:4,5; Heb. 9:24, 26; 1 John 2:1, 2; 1 Tim. 2:5, 6).

D.  The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person possessing all the attributes of personality and of deity, by whom believers are called, regenerated, baptized into Christ, indwelt, sealed and filled for service; and that the distinction between the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament adn now in the New Testament dispensation must be recognized; i.e., there is a new and unique work of the Holy Spirit in relation to the Body of Christ for which there is no Old Testament parallel (John 14:16, 17, 26; John 16:8-11; 1 Cor. 12:13; Rom. 8:14, 26, 27).

E.  Man

We believe that man was created in innocence under the laws of his Maker, but by voluntary transgression fell from his sinless and happy state, in consequence of which all men are now sinners, not only by constraint but by choice, and therefore under just condemnation without defense or excuse adn necessitating the new birth (Gen. 1:27; Gen. 3:1-24; Rom. 5:12, 19; John 3:6-8; Eph. 2:1, 3).

F.  The Fallen Creatures

We believe in the personal existence of demons, fallen angels, and Satan, who is the unholy god of this age, the author of all the powers of darkness and destined to judgment in the lake of fire (Matt. 4:1-11; Eph. 6:11; 2 Cor. 4:4; Rev. 20:10; Matt. 25:41; James 2:19).

G.  The Plan of Salvation

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly by the grace of the Son of God, who by divine appointment of the Father, freely took upon Himself our sin, yet was without sin, and honored the Divine law by His personal obedience, and by His death made a full and complete atonement for our sin; that His atonement for our sin was a voluntary substitution of Himself, in the sinner's place, the just dying for the unjust; Christ the Lord bearing our sin in His own body on the tree (Eph. 2:8; Acts 15:11; 1 John 4:9, 10; John 3:16-17).
